“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” James 1:22 NIV
Have you ever had that moment in your life where the rubber met the road in your faith walk? There is nowhere to turn. Nowhere to hide. The only direction to go is forward. It’s an interesting and transformational moment. These transformational moments do not all look the same. They are individually designed by God for each one of us. They are designed to change our heart.
Elisha had that pivotal moment. He destroyed all of his worldly possessions to ensure that he had nothing to come back to. What an act of faith! He ensured that Elijah could not question his devotion to him.
Martha, sister of Lazarus and Mary, had her transformational moment with Jesus. She had sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was dying and requested his immediate intervention. Instead Jesus lingered a few days and Lazarus was dead and buried by the time He arrived. Martha jumped in with “If you had only done this…” only to see Jesus perform even a greater miracle; a foreshadowing of His power over death that He too would demonstrate after His own crucifixion. In Martha’s transformational moment she shifted from “If you had only done this” to “Yes, Lord, I believe.” Sometimes something has to die for us to be transformed.
Are you willing to trust the Lord that much? God sacrificed His own Son for us. He was willing.
Lord, give me strength and courage to step into the transformational moments that you have planned for me. Help me trust You enough to be transformed. Help me to do what You ask me to do.
