“I will teach you and tell you the way to go and how to get there; I will give you good counsel, and I will watch over you.” Psalm 32:8 The Voice
It dawns on me that in order to be taught, we have to be willing to listen. On occasion, I have purchased items that need to be assembled. I’m in such a hurry to get to the finished product that I don’t always take enough time with the instructions. I miss the subtleties that affect the quality, look and appeal of the finished product. Maybe the parts weren’t assembled in quite the right order. Or maybe they were installed backwards. Maybe I had to remove and reinstall parts and ended up stripping screws or damaging a part. Or maybe I left some parts out entirely!! If I were to respect the manufacturer and instruction manual a little more, maybe I wouldn’t have had these issues…
When I am walking independently of God and His Word, that is what happens in my life too.
Father, help me to respect You as my Creator, my “manufacturer,” and help me regard Your Word, “Your instructions,” with the respect they deserve.
Psalm 25, Mark 12:30-31
