“God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.” 1 Kings 4:29 NIV
God offered Solomon anything he wanted and he asked for wisdom and discernment. Because it was such a selfless request, God gave him what he requested and much more – wealth and honor, so much there would be no equal; and a long life if he chose to walk in obedience to God’s commands and decrees.
If God said He would give you anything you wanted, what would you ask for? Would it be a selfless request?
It’s important to remember that Solomon was a very young man. It seems that God had already planted a seed of wisdom in his young heart and Solomon stayed true to it. He understood the magnitude of the responsibility that had been left in his keeping. He honored the sheep that needed a shepherd before himself.
Father, I ask for more wisdom and discernment to use for Your kingdom purpose.
