The Currency Of Heaven

“Better to be poor and honest than rich and a cheater.” Proverbs 28:6 Living Bible (TLB)

There is something to be said for a good, sound night’s sleep.  It’s the sleep of a good conscience. Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow.  We are simply to depend upon the Holy Spirit to guide us day to day, filling us with peace and joy and encouragement. The yoke that is easy. It’s a different currency system than we are used to.

Jesus explained the currency of heaven in the Sermon on the Mount. His words were a profound shift for the religious authorities of the day. It turned the world system upside down and inside out.

The poor in Spirit inherit the kingdom of heaven. Those who mourn will be comforted. The gentle inherit the earth. Those hungry and thirsty for righteousness will be satisfied. Those who give mercy will receive it. The pure in heart shall see God. Peaceful folks are the children of God. Those who are persecuted for good inherit heaven. And we are to celebrate this new economic system.  They are the ways of God’s kingdom.  Our eternal inheritance!

Father, thank you for Your ways – new ways in Christ. Thank you for a system based on the hearts of people rather than possessions. I pray I see the hearts of others as You do and seek to share Your love indiscriminately.
