“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22 NIV

Believe: to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so

If we believe, we will receive.  How do we come to believe? How do we come to that place of confidence? In what truth do we place our confidence? What if we believe in a false truth? Or a half-truth?

For me, believing is also about relationship.  I develop my relationship with God in prayer.  That is where confidence develops.  By practicing a walk of faith even more confidence in God’s truth develops. I pray to the one true Living God.  He is not dead.  He is not a trinket on a shelf.  He is not a decoration. He is a real, live entity that is actively looking after my welfare and guiding the direction of my life.

Without prayer, there is no dialog. No relationship. No download.  No confidence. Prayer is preparedness. In scripture, “sleep” often refers to no prayer, no relationship with God; not being aware of the spiritual realm.  Without prayer we operate only out of our five senses. As we pray, we enter into an intimate space where we can both listen and speak on a spiritual level.  We can experience joy, release, forgiveness, love, compassion, mercy and grace. Prayer can shift us and our circumstances.  Through that intimate time in relationship with God, He can change us.  Create transformation. A metamorphosis, just like the caterpillar to the butterfly!

Father, thank you for being a God of change! Help me to grow and change every day.  Help me be receptive to be used by You as a change agent for others.

  1. Those words are very meaningful. They touched my heart and reminded me that no matter what my circumstances are i should always pray.
I am from another religion but i do believe in all religions and we do also have these exact words. All religions are alike when it comes to staying connected with God ❤.
