What Do You See?

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Colossians 1:19-20 NIV

The Holy Spirit enlarges our vision.

Jesus was the son of a carpenter.  He grew up alongside brothers and sisters and many other children.  So, when He showed up at the temple the first time teaching, what did people see?  Did they see a precocious, if not very bright, child?  Or did they see the fullness of God?  Simeon saw the fullness of God’s promise in Jesus as an infant in the temple in Jerusalem.  He acknowledged baby Jesus as the Messiah.

Abraham and Sarah were in their nineties when God came to them and said they were going to have a son and that Abraham would be a Father of many kings and nations.  God saw something inside of them that they could not see for themselves.  Abraham laughed!

When Elisha and his servant were surrounded by the Aramaens in Dothan, Elisha was not concerned.  His servant was freaking out!  Elisha prayed that his servant would be given eyes to see.  The hills were filled horses and chariots of fire much more numerous than the armies against them.

And when Peter looked at Jesus, he saw more; a bigger purpose.  He declared Him the Messiah.

Father, when I look at You, help me to see You in all Your fullness.  When I look at myself, help me see myself through Your eyes. Help me walk in it.  Father, when I look at others, help me see them through Your eyes and encourage them to embrace their fullness in You.
