“But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry.” Jonah 4:1 NIV
Jonah was angry with God for giving Ninevah a second chance. There is a place where we all obey. And we have all had a time of disobedience in our lives. What circumstances take us to a place of disobedience?
Sometimes it requires a shake-up. We are chosen by God to be used by God – and God doesn’t give up on us. He stays with us through those hard places as things are getting “worked out” of us. When we are slow to act, run ahead, or ignore His direction He’s still there, waiting, to help us break through.
Jonah knew the character of God. He had already been through the belly of a whale running from what God had asked him to do. And now he was mad about the results. Ninevah got a second chance! We can learn to give second chances to those with a repentant heart that change their ways.
Our God is a God of second chances – Jonah, Ninevah, me, you. All we have to do is acknowledge our error. He restores. He gives grace. God has concern for us all.
God thank you for making a way for us in Jesus. Thank you for Your abundant grace.
