“You see, you have not received a spirit that returns you to slavery, so you have nothing to fear. The Spirit you have received adopts you and welcomes you into God’s own family. That’s why we call out to Him, “Abba! Father!” as we would address a loving daddy.” Romans 8:15 The Voice
Have you ever watched a child greet their parent? Maybe after a long journey or even being away after a day of work, the thrill of being reunited is heartwarming. I can hear the squeals of excitement. Peels of laughter or belly laughs or giggles. Bear hugs around the neck. Cries of “Mommy!” or “Daddy!” filling the air with exclamation marks. The abandon and excitement as they barrel toward their beloved parent…Don’t get in the way!
Think about the same child after they have fallen and scraped their knee playing. With the first sight of blood and after the pain sets in, the crying begins and they want their parent. They want to be picked up, consoled, and put back together again for another day, or another play date.
We are to change and become humble like little children. Children have no concern about position or wealth. If they have what they need, they are satisfied. They do not worry about tomorrow. They can get lost in the joy of the moment. They accept others without pretense.
Father, help me to change and come to you as a child, Your child. I want to dwell in Your house forever!
