“So imitate God. Follow Him like adored children,” Ephesians 5:1 The Voice

Imitate: To follow as a model or example. To mimic or impersonate. To make a copy of; reproduce closely. To have or assume the appearance of; simulate; resemble.

Adore: To regard with the utmost love, esteem and respect; honor. To pay divine honor to; worship. To like or admire very much.

We are called to imitate God.  Our time in prayer, in His Word, in worship and in His Presence helps us to understand how to model ourselves after Him. However, this is not just a one way engagement!  We are adored children. Meaning He regards us with the utmost love, esteem and respect.  He honors us too!  I forget that sometimes.  Ok, maybe a lot.

Our walk of faith invites a two-way level of engagement.  It activates a level of intimacy in our relationship with God that fosters our imitation of Him and opens the floodgates of His adoration of us.  It opens the doors for Him to flood us with His love, power and authority.  He simply needs us to understand how to use it. When we imitate Him, we demonstrate our readiness to receive all that He has for us.

Teach me Your ways O Lord!  Make me a ready recipient of Your adoration!
